Got there in the end
It was hard work, chasing entries made on the bank balances by journals applied took me hours to locate. As with the previous review communication is somewhat chaotic with multiple people apparently entering journals onto the account without any explanation. I was rather annoyed that I had to find and work out changes made without prior conversation or agreement and then chase and struggle to get phone calls returned However they were cheaper than other accountants but essentially it's cost me much more in time and effort for the last 3 months trying to get to completion.
Chaotic and unresponsive operation
Sadly on this occasion the service I received from Chris at SQK Accountancy was subpar and disappointing.
* I found their operation often unresponsive, forcing me to make follow up calls to chase my unread messages and emails.
* I also found their operation overwhelmed and chaotic. My correction requests were often overlooked so I had to waste time and highlight the same mistakes again. They ultimately submitted my company accounts with one of those errors still unfixed, despite me having highlighted it to them on 3 separate occasions - when confronted and despite them being 100% at fault, I received no apology and was merely guided to submit a correction request to HMRC via post myself resulting in delay in my loan application.
* They are also not a native Quickfile accountant, therefore you are asked to refill all your details again on their proprietary portal and progress your work there rather than directly in Quickfile.

Efficient and great value
I used SQK for Year End submissions to HMRC/Companies House. Chris was timely and efficient. The process was completed in about a week with no problems or extra work on my part. And for a micro company like mine with a small turnover the fee is sensible too.

Very good customer experience and prompt turn-around time
We are extremely impressed with SQK Accountancy. We used SQK Accountancy to file our annual corporation tax and Companies House records in April 2018 and in-turn had an excellent customer experience.
Our initial contact was via telephone, and we spoke to an engaged and motivated staff member called Ian. He noted Chris would be in contact with us and provided a follow-up time-frame. Chris contacted us exactly inside of this time-frame and kept us up-to-date on the HMRC and Companies House submission progress. Additional contact was via email and he was also quick to respond to emails.
The full accountancy job was done within a week, and far exceeded our expectations. We got fair pricing, prompt service, and customer care from multiple support staff who clearly cared about our company. They re-affirmed this care by correcting any minor issues in our QuickFile book keeping and explaining their rationale in layman terms.

This is how it should be...
...to be honest I had given up the will to live working with Accountants, countless unnecessary meetings (that of course are charged for and at ridicolous rates!), slow processing and just the feeling that you are trying to get blood from a stone. The first step in a big change was using Quickfile and them recommeding SQK Accounting with a fixed price so you knew where you stood and didn't faint with shock at the bill.
I was pleased at how seamless and easy the process was, Chris was a pleasure to deal with and unlike past feelings of never wanting to see past Accountants again I will be back to SQK Accounting for next years accounts. Thank you for restoring my faith.
